In this post, I have some of the Star Wars: Battlefront latest news, including this exact release date, trailer and more! Star Wars: Battlefront certainly does make a lot of changes; but are they for the good?
Compatibility and Release Date
Due to the highly enhanced graphics of Star Wars: Battlefront, I’m afraid that it will only be available on PC, Xbox One and PS4. However, the graphics are expected to be of exceptional standard, so there is good reason for it being this way, as this quality simply isn’t possible on Xbox 360 and PS3.
Recently, the exact release date was also announced: it is expected to release in North America on 17th November 2015, and just 3 days later for the UK. This is very close to the usual annual release date of Call of Duty, so Star Wars: Battlefront is going to prevail through a tough fight in the market if it is going to be a successful game.
The Last Star Wars: Battlefront Game on a Console was Released in 2005… Why The Massive Break?
Star Wars: Battlefront 2 was released all the way back in 2005, so now 10 years later, another Star Wars: Battlefront is being released? This is currently confusing many people, however those of you who were hardcore enough to be playing Star Wars: Battlefront 2 back in 2005/6/7 will have certainly heard the reasoning why Battlefront: 3 never happened…
A few years after the release of Battlefront 2, it was announced that Free Radical Design, the developers that had already spent 2 years developing Battlefront 3, had been stripped of their rights to develop the game any further, so the project had to be abandoned.
However, now all the way in 2015, DICE has taken the responsibility to create the game into its hands, but DICE are developing it in their own eyes, so it is not going to be a direct sequel to Battlefront 2, which is why the game is only called Star Wars: Battlefront.
In fact, it seems like it has nothing to do with Star Wars: Battlefront 2 since has no campaign. Although the fact that Star Wars: Battlefront is going to be a multiplayer only game is a big dissapointment to many of you, this is DICE we are talking about here; they developed the fantastic Battlefield series and have never been known for their single players, but their multiplayers!
So would you rather have an average campaign and a decent multiplayer, or no campaign and a brilliant multiplayer? Since DICE are putting all of their effort into the multiplayer, personally, I think we should be expecting something excellent.
Reveal Trailer – What Does it Tell us?
After watching that, did you think to yourself that you didn’t see how any of the trailer had anything to do with a story-mode or single-player? Well that’s because there isn’t going to be one.
Most people currently have the idea that Star Wars: Battlefront is going to be a multiplayer only game, because there is going to be no campaign, but there will be another mode which allows single player which I will talk about later.
In terms of the gameplay from the trailer, we can assume that the multiplayer is going to be very intense, with all of the vehicles and playable heroes!
We also saw a little bit ‘air combat’ or dog fighting or whatever you want to call it, so that looks pretty exciting!
Also, there are clearly going to be some cool abilities that you can use, as demonstrated in the trailer. For example, someone summoned a drop shield over themselves which seemed to block bullets. I’m sure that there will be many more abilities like this, but I can tell you for certain that these are going to bring a lot more strategy into the game.
What are the Game Modes Going to be for Multiplayer?
All the way back in Star Wars: Battlefront 2, we saw game-modes such as: Conquest, Hunt, variations of Capture the Flag and Assault, but there are undoubtedly going to be many more additions in EA’s taking of Battlefront. It is possible that we may see some of the classical Battlefield modes make an appearance, but as for now, we are yet to be informed of the game-modes that are going to be on Star Wars: Battlefront.
However, it has been announced that instead of a campaign, there is going to be a mode called ‘Crafted Missions’, that you can in fact play on your own, on split-screen or cooperatively online. On ‘Crafted Missions’, there will be bots involved, so there is still a mode to play on Star Wars: Battlefront if you don’t have access to multiplayer, but I certainly wouldn’t recommend getting it if you don’t.
As I mentioned earlier, we can expect great things from the multiplayer since DICE are developing it; for example, in Battlfield 4 and Hardline, up to 64 players can compete in a single game.
Although Star Wars: Battlefront won’t be featuring as many players being able to play in a single game, it will support games up 20 a side, or as low as 4 a side, which offers a preferred scale of warfare for everyone.

Is Star Wars: Battlefront Worth Your Money?
If you’re a hardcore Star Wars fan and even if you don’t like the fact that Star Wars: Battlefront is going to have nothing to do with its prequels, I don’t think you can resist not to get this game.
After 10 years since the last Battlefront game on a console, this is one of the most significant strides in the Star Wars series, as for years it was believed that the Star Wars: Battlefront series had come to an abrupt end.
If you’re not a hardcore Star Wars fan, then you have to think to yourself what you want from a game. If you love single-player action, this simply isn’t going to be the game for you.
However, if you appreciate fantastic graphics and always prefer the multiplayer side of games, then this may be worth pre-ordering! It is likely that it will introduce a combat system which shares some qualities with the Battlefield series, with its own unique touch.
Of course, this game is going to be more appealing to you if you have seen some of the Star Wars films or at least have some basic knowledge, as I suspect it will be loosely based upon that, which no real sense of story.
In a nutshell, if you just want to enjoy some chaotic warfare with the implementation of fantastic graphics, this is probably going to be the game for you.
